Czech pop-music as a platform for debating women's sexuality

The thesis titled Czech Popular Music as a Platform for Thematization of Female Sexuality deals with young Czech female performers who, through the lyrics of their songs, interviews in the media, and performances at concerts, thematize the female experience. I analysed the selected song lyrics of five female performers, their interviews and notes from the field diary using qualitative content analysis and further interpreted the results in seven different thematic categories. The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, I mainly focus on defining post-feminism and post-feminist sensibility, popular culture and the perception of physicality in the environment of popular music. The empirical part consists of methodology, qualitative content analysis and subsequent interpretation.

"Polyamory Has Always Been There Somehow" - Women's Experiences With Polyamory

The bachelor's thesis deals with the phenomenon of polyamory, an alternative form of experiencing partner relationships in which it is possible and acceptable to love more than one person simultaneously. This thesis examines how women who have experience with polyamory relationships evaluate this experience, what meanings they attribute to their experiences with polyamory and how polyamory influences their construction of self. The thesis also focuses on the influence of social norms and expectations associated with partnership and female sexuality in Western society. Thus, the goal is to describe how women experience polyamory and to explain to what extent society stigmatizes this relationship arrangement and how polyamorists deal with it. The findings in the analytical part of the work derive from the analysis of nine in-depth interviews conducted with women who have experience with polyamorous relationships. These interviews were analysed using the qualitative method of segmentation and coding. The findings of this research are divided into four areas. Differences in sexual behavior and attitudes between highly and less orgasmic women

The aim of our investigation is to explore a sexual life, experience and attitudes of women who are divided into for groups, according to their ability to reach orgasm during partnered sexual activities. We try to identify possible differences between these groups in diverse sexual areas. We do not formulate any hypothesis, our research has an exploratory character. We used data from 905 women, who participated in a nationwide research, that aims to investigate changes in Czech population sexual behavior. The research is in progress since 1993 and it repeats every five years. Our sample originates from a data collection in 2008. The data collection (using anonymous questionnaire) was conducted by a specialized agency DEMA a.s. The data were processed using SPSS 16.0. Our results are following: The orgastic ability decreases with age. Widows, pensioners, and Roman Catholics rarely experience orgasm. Highly orgasmic women are of higher education. These women engaged into partnered sexual activities (such as necking, petting, sexual intercourse) earlier than the less orgasmic women did. The highly orgasmic women more masturbate. The influence of oral hormonal contraceptive use on female sexuality: the evolutionary perspective

The proposed thesis is comprised of eleven papers connected by the employment of the evolutionary psychological approach in research on various aspects of human sexuality. The aim of the first monothematic part is to demonstrate the evolutionary-psychological approach to one recent phenomenon in female sexuality - the use of oral contraceptives (OC). OC use has been shown to suppress psychological mechanisms that are considered to be adaptive in the fertile period of the natural menstrual cycle. In particular, OC users' ratings of male stimuli that provide the cues of genetic quality and compatibility are lower in comparison with normally cycling women. Moreover, the increase in sexual desire and in the prevalence of proceptive behaviour observed during mid-cycle in normally cycling women is diminished. However, the impact of this phenomenon on mate-choice and relationship dynamics in an ecological context has not been studied. In the first study, we have analyzed the data of Czech women obtained via representative sampling within the Czech National Survey of Sexual Behavior. Female orgasm and its relation to autoerotic and dyadic sexual behavior

The thesis focuses on female orgasm and its relation to autoerotic activities and dyadic sexual behavior. The first theoretical part focuses on theories describing the function of female orgasms and factors influencing its occurrence. The second part consists of four articles published in peer-reviewed journals. The first article is a review, focusing on the development of expert opinions over time, with specific regard to female orgasms and the division between clitoral and vaginal orgasm. The second article discusses the role of general relationship and sexual satisfaction with respect to the female orgasm. The third article examined the association between first autoerotic experiences and the occurrence of vaginal orgasm. Finally, the fourth article concerned the frequency of dyadic sexual activity and its relation to vaginal orgasm. The findings within each article indicate that autoerotic and dyadic sexual activities together with general relationship and sexual satisfaction have a positive influence on the occurrence of female orgasms.

Female Sexual Needs during Pregnancy

This presented Bachelor thesis deals with the female sexual needs during pregnancy. Given the focus of the thesis, in the theoretical part is described the sexuality of the woman, the sexuality during pregnancy period and here is also found the history of human sexuality and the history of sex during pregnancy. The practical part is devoted to research. In total, four goals were set. The first objective was to find out if pregnancy had an effect on women's sexual needs, the second was to find out whether sexual life was changing during pregnancy, and third and fourth targets focused on informing women about sexuality during pregnancy and about the sources of information. On the basis of the objectives set, research questions were selected. A method of qualitative research was chosen to elaborate the research part. Data collection was conducted using semi-structured interviews with women within five years of delivery. The research sample consisted of ten women and the interview contained ten open questions. The obtained data were analyzed by the hand-coded method, paper and pencil. The results of research have shown that sexual appetite changes during pregnancy. Yaoi Manga and Slash Fanfiction in a Sociological Point of View

This thesis deals with slash fanfiction and yaoi manga, disparate yet similar phenomena of fan culture. Yaoi manga as genre of Japanese comics created by women and dedicated to women , and slash fanfiction as women's reaction to pop culture generally made by male authors, are both genres dealing with a romantic relationship between two men characters. This relationship is portrayed as an innocent romantic story as well as a hardcore pornography. The autor aims to describe the terms and inctroduce some of the most influential approaches to research of the topic. Author is interested in the issue in the way of cultural and gender approach. Cultural perspective provides a summary of approaches of Frankfurt and Birmingham schools, clarifys point of view of Abercrombie and Longhurst and other authors on the current and future trends in development of audiences. Mapping the internet, important space for the fan communitiy, is also a part of this paper. Gender perspective provides a description of the points of view on the women's status in popular culture, explains the motivation of the readers/authors related to the issue of homosexuality, and describes opinions of different feminisms about pornography. Research among fangirls and fanboys or authors of slash fanfiction and yaoi manga is included.

Sexual dysfunctions in w omen with urinary incontinence

Aim: This study was designed to examine the influence of female urinary incontinence on development of sexual dysfunctions. By means of the questionnaire investigation we inquired how often and how the sexual behaviour and response were modified. Our goal was to determine the prevalence of coital incontinence, describe the most common sexual disorders and to find out how women deal with the urinary incontinence in a partner relationship and how such situations are resolved. Attention was given to the interests of health care professionals in this area, the quality of their communication with patients, effect and satisfaction with therapy. Research sample: The study included 106 women with urinary incontinence (aged 30-44 years and 44-59 years). Characteristics of their sexual behaviour were compared between the two age groups and in relation to assessed diagnosis. Changes in sexual behaviour were evaluated both in relation to the population group who were a part of representative research study of Czech women in 2008 and control group of 112 healthy women of comparable age.
